Mirapex®
(Pramipexole Dihydrochloride) is a prescription medication manufactured by Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc., it is prescribed primarily for the treatment of Parkinson's disease, restless legs syndrome and some other disorders, and diseases. Mirapex® has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and these other conditions. There is one potentially devastating side effect of the prescription drug Mirapex®, that I believe every user of this medication should be made aware of. I am not a medical doctor, pharmacist or any other medical professional, nor in any way do I claim to have any specialized medical knowledge, however I have had personal experience with the prescription drug Mirapex as a patient. It was prescribed to me for the treatment of Restless Legs Syndrome.
Shortly after starting the prescription drug Mirapex I began to gamble and spend compulsively. I lost and spent many thousands of dollars and also incurred many more thousands of dollars of credit card debt, most of which I have been unable to repay. Because of this gambling and spending compulsion my credit rating which was once excellent has now been destroyed. And also because of these compulsions my personal life became strained and I had to seek medical treatment for depression, paranoia and other psychological problems from which I am still suffering, however I will not go into any more details. Some of the credit card companies that I have incured these debts with have no compassion at all. Citibank is probably the worst of the group and has decided to sue me for not being able to pay my obligation to them. I tried to work out something, but they don't want to hear my problems, all their interested in is the money I owe!
If you are a Parkinsons disease patient, have restless legs syndrome or any other condition and your physician recommends or prescribes the prescription drug Mirapex® Please talk with him or her about the potential for developing compulsive behaviors such a gambling, spending, overeating, hyper sexuality etc. Another prescription drug Requip® can have similar effects because like Mirapex it is a dopamine agonist and works on the brain chemistry in pretty much the same manner.
If you, a family member or other loved one is currently taking, or has taken the prescription drug Mirapex® please watch for any signs or symptoms of compulsive behaviors, such as spending, gambling, and some other even more bizarre compulsions have also been reported. If any compulsive behaviors are noticed please consult with your physician, and if necessary you may want to also seek legal council. I personally have had a problem with alcohol 20 years ago, I have been sober since that time, but I was told by my attorney I had little or no chance of being compensated for my loses because of my past addiction. I never had a problem with gambling until I took the prescription drug Mirapex®.
